Wallpaper* Steilneset Memorial, by Zumthor and Louise Bourgeois

terrific combo of artist + architect working on a very tough subject. m.

Designed by architect Peter Zumthor and the artist Louise Bourgeois (Wallpaper* guest editor for issue 115), the Steilneset is a memorial to the dark days of the early 17th Century, when the witch mania that infected almost all of Europe reached this small fishing community and tore it apart — Photography by Bjarne Riesto

Gemma Ward in Prada for Wonderland Magazine

beautiful photography and designs by one of my favorites — prada! m.

Gemma Ward gets her closeup on the fall 2016 cover of Wonderland Magazine. Photographed by Georges Antoni, the Australian model wears a Prada sailor hat in the cropped shot. For the accompanying spread, Gemma Ward poses in even more looks from the Italian label’s autumn collection. Stylist Sara Smith dresses the blonde in Miuccia Prada’s rich brocades, organza dresses and wool corset belts. In some shots, Gemma experiments with her makeup–wearing 1920’s style pencil thin eyebrows and muted lipstick.

Thomas Bayrle Edition for Texte zur Kunst

i so want this shirt! m.

“Over the course of the last fourt decades, Thomas Bayrle, who has been an influential teacher at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main between 1975 and 2002, has produced a comprehensive body of work whose basic principle is the seriality and repetition of simple motifs — in graphic works, silkscreen prints, textiles, wallpapers, sculptures and films. Mass production and accumulation are the guiding topoi of Bayrle’s works, oftentimes consisting of a compilation of identical forms and pictograms, for instance cups, cans or shoes, merged into a unified picture.”

SoMA Newark by Richard Meier

nice to see newark rising! m.

“As construction continues at Richard Meier’s Teachers Village in Newark, renderings have surfaced for a significant batch of glassy towers that could rise alongside it. At first glance, the master plan looks like Hudson Yards‘ glossy, younger sibling who is vying for attention on the other side of the Hudson. But the project remains as ephemeral as its glassy renderings.”

White Attic by Diogo Passarinho + Duarte Caldas

beautifully dressed in white. m.

Designed by two young Portuguese architects, Diogo Passarinho and Duarte Caldas first residential project, is a white space dedicated to young couple with two babies. Located in Lisbon´s city center, this two story space is conceived as a sleeping area and a workplace for the fashion blogger More is Better.

White wooden steps appear at end of an internal existing corridor, leading up to the a new hermetic space. Along the staircase he wanted a storage and display area for his favorite skateboards, while once reaching the new level she asked for a space where she would feel comfortable running her online women accessorize business.

Casa Gallarda Spain by JFGS Architects

stellar minimalist design in almeria spain! m.

standing out against the cloud-less blue sky, the holiday retreat ‘casa gallarda’ in almeria spain is by architect josé francisco garcía-sánchez of JFGS. simplistic in form, most noticeably featuring a deep cut in the middle as a vertical window, the property references traditional mediterranean housing– with little windows to reduce direct heat from the sun and the stark white appearance. orientated to face the best views of its context, the home is organized with amenities suited for everyday activities enjoyed while living in the mediterranean.
