beijing university

thinking over the renovation concept of beijing university of civil engineering and architecture part, c+ architects not only took care of the building itself, but also reviewed the relationship between the building and its context.teaching building no.5 is located on the west side of the campus and is surrounded by small green garden with a fountain. while transforming the inner space of the building, the studio noticed that the garden is hidden and almost not used. to integrate the yard into the campus’ daily life, architects moved the building’s entrances to the southern facade to face the garden, which now can serve as a space for educational activities.

dieter rams: a retrospective

A retrospective exhibition dedicated to Dieter Rams, one of the 20th century’s most influential industrial designers. As head of design at Braun, the German consumer electronics manufacturer, Rams defined an elegant and rigorous visual language for its products.

The exhibition featured 244 objects, spanning six decades of his life and work. Planned across five sections (Dieter Rams solo projects, Braun team projects under Dieter’s leadership, Vitsœ and Typology and Legacy), the design of the exhibition utilised an array of graphic expressions — each appropriate to specific areas of curatorial content. The entrance featured an internal façade with Rams’ Vitsœ 606 compression system spanning the width of the upper gallery (approx 15×5m). Here the visual language from selected products set the tone.

canvas offices

Located in the Playa Vista neighbourhood of Los Angeles, the project was completed by New York-based architects A+I. The new offices encompass 36,000 square feet (3,344 square metres) of open-plan workspaces over two floors that are split up by meeting rooms, informal spaces, and private offices.

From the outset, the architects faced a blank slate. “The company had no purpose-built space that preceded this, no employee culture they were designing around and no identity yet to perpetuate,” said A+I.

Video — Enjoy By: Pipeline for Christmas

in my opinion one of the best, most fluid breaks on the globe — the banzai pipeline on the north shore of the island of oahu in beautiful hawaii. I have had the pleasure to frequent it when I visit hawaii and when I lived there a few years back. enjoy! it’s beautiful! m.

The holidays have a tendency to make people go a little crazy. Time starts to bend, things sneak up on us, and before you know it, the joys of the season have passed us by. But for those lucky enough to be on the North Shore of Oahu this Christmas, a lovely gift was waiting in their front yard that begged the abandonment of all those holiday woes. Watch the best of the best celebrate the season proper way at pumping Pipeline.

We were looking for a set that feels out of time and space, a story where mountain and ocean meet black beaches and volcanic rocks. We were eager for more raw and natural feelings. The main idea here was to work with the wind and let a dialogue build in between the body and the landscapes.
